Patient’s teeth before gum disease treatment at Sunrise Dental Service

Do you feel you have bad breath in the morning or when you wake up? Do you have bad breath all the time?  Do you have bad breath even after brushing? Are you plagued by bad breath no matter what you do?  Or are you self-conscious while talking to others due to your bad breath?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, maybe we can help you.  Read on below to learn how Dr. Makadia and our team helped one patient find freedom from persistent bad breath.

The Case

A patient who was very conscious of her breath came to Dr. Makadia for help. As a manager working with multiple employees, she struggled with embarrassment due to her condition. In addition to suffering from bad breath, she was afraid of getting in dental chair.

When she arrived for her consultation, Dr. Makadia performed a full examination. Then, he sat down and explained the reason behind her bad breath, which was periodontal disease. He recommended laser gum treatment as the solution. Throughout the course of four visits, the infection in her gum tissue was systematically addressed. Within just one month, she was completely free of bad breath and gum disease!

Do You Need Treatment for Gum Disease?

Bad breath often occurs alongside gum disease because when harmful bacteria invade the gum tissue, those bacteria multiply to the point where they release a strong, unpleasant odor. Of course, bad breath is just one potential sign of gum disease. Here are some other indications that you might require treatment:

  • Your gums bleed easily when you brush and floss.
  • Your gums are red and swollen.
  • Your gums are receding (your teeth may look longer than they used to).

What to Expect with Treatment

If you are struggling with any of the above symptoms, schedule a consultation with us. There is no need to fear that we will judge you for your condition or that treatment will be scary. Dr. Makadia and our team are highly empathetic, and we want each patient to feel comfortable in our office.

During your appointment, we will learn more about your oral health before discussing your treatment options. Many patients are candidates for laser gum treatment, which involves the use of a highly concentrated beam of light that can remove diseased tissue, kill bacteria caught between the teeth and gums, and encourage your mouth to heal. Due to the advanced technology used in the procedure, both the procedure and the recovery from it tend to be quite comfortable.

Bad breath can be embarrassing. Even more than that, it can indicate a serious oral health problem! If you are struggling with it, ask our team for assistance. We look forward to helping you achieve a healthier, more confident smile.
